Look Stylish While Staying Warm This Winter.

During this winter period, it's important to look as stylish as possible at the same time keeping warm. The idea of keeping warm is not to wrap one self up with layers like you are going in for an artic audition. If you decide to look good this winter, you will definitely look good, just do not overdo it.

Here's a few tips on how to keep that style up there.

1. Get a good hat or beanie, something like a neutral colour which will go with any outfit or jacket.

2. Get a scarf, Scarves are inexpensive, but they will serve you a great deal especially during windy, chilly and extremely cold winter days. You can get them in a variety of colours, styles, and fabric. All you need to know is how to combine colours and style. Wear a colour that will match your coat or match your hat. For example, if you are wearing a black coat, it is advised that your scarf should be a colour that matches, either be dark or light grey. However, it is still your choice if you want to mix colours and prints. Just do not overdo it. Remember, less is more.

3. Leather dresses, jeans and skirts are on trend right now, and are the perfect clothing to stay warm in.

4. Invest in a thigh length pea coat, it will keep you warm without a too many layers. For an even more stylish look, try a calf length coat.

5. Turtleneck top are fashionable and stylish, pair it with a furry jacket or just any thick lovely jacket.

6. Fur vests (faux, of course) are stylish and pair well over a thin top. They are Warm without layering up. Great wear!

7. Ladies, knee high boots are great in the winter for keeping your feet warm, and if you wear a nice pair of tights or leggings with it, Fantastic! And for the men, get your yourself some comfortable boots to go with your pair of jean (i'd love the leather).

8 Depending on your outfit, Sweaters and cardigans are a must this time of year. The style of each of them is very important to continue to present stylish look. Choose long sleeves that tights up as they approach the wrist. This ensures warmth, but eliminates unnecessary bulk.

Finally, always make sure you invest in a high quality winter coat or jacket as the whole idea is to keep warm first. Sure it should be stylish. Sure it should be cosy. But what is more important is that you feel good about yourself this winter from the inside-out. Stay warm and Merry Christmas!!!

You Don't Have To Be Flashy To Be Stylish. Simplicity Is Class!

These days a lot of people confuse being flashy for style. They assume having a large wardrobe stuffed with designer labels or apparels makes you stylish and classy or having expensive jewellery  all round your body at once or  by drowning yourself in a pool of different coloured clothing. This is an utterly wrong perception. Being well dressed and stylish is a thing of the mind, it's creativity, it's an art! The ability to be able to combine wears perfectly even with the smallest of resources or simple but quality and classy apparels in itself is style.

Whatever outfit you come out with, it's also best to keep it simple but sophisticated. Though you must have a wardrobe that looks great on you, try not to overdo it. You must never wear more than three pieces of jewellery (unless you are a rapper/musician) or more than three colours at once so you don't look like you are in a fancy dress competition. You don't need excessive brands, accessories or colours to be stylish. The quality and combination of your outfit, accessories and colours is what speaks about your style.

Style icons like David Beckham, Pharrel Williams, Scott Disick, Michele Obama, Halle Berry, Beyonce are all icons we can draw inspirations from.
Here just a few tips to consider if you want the simple/classy stylish look.

1. Always make sure you wear simple but quality apparels (Designer labels or Not)

2. Always make sure your accessories like watches, necklace or pearls are  of very good quality as these speak about your class. Don't wear too much jewellery at once.

3. Mix up your colours perfectly and don't wear more than 3 colours at once. Mix matching colours or using too many colours can never make you classy.

4.  It is all about your shoes.  A pair of elegant high heels can transform the most simple outfit into a chic creation, while the most gorgeous look can fade when paired with frumpy shoes. While keeping the rest of your outfit simple, you can always let your shoes to show your true class.

5. It's important you always have a groomed look. Make sure your hair or facial hairs are always spot on.

6. Get rid of anything that doesn't fit you, and try to let go of attachments to clothes that you just don't wear.

7. Always smell nice!

Your external looks are influenced by your internal state. So whichever state you are internally should reflect your outfits. Be free to express your personality be it simple or flashy. For the simple dressers don't think being flashy is the only way to being stylish. As you invest in the inner you, your outer appearance will benefit.

Accessories: Your Hand Bag Reflects You.

Ladies and hand bags are inseparable. The hand bag is one of the most important accessory in a ladies wardrobe. They are essential for any type of woman, on any type of day which is why you hardly see a woman go about her day without her handbag.

Different women carry different types of bags which says quite much. For example, A woman carrying the latest designer bag lives an exclusive, high-maintenance lifestyle and their designer handbag is a reflection of expensive tastes and appreciation for very, very fine things.
Have you ever wondered why some ladies are willing to pay $5,000 or more for a classic Chanel bag? How about $65,000 or more for an Hermes Birkin bag? that's because It does more than carry their stuff around. The bag is their pride, it represents power and status. While some ladies are just comfortable carrying large bags with everything they'll ever need in it that shows a bit of dis-organisation and a lady always busy and on the move.

It’s not just the  style of bag you carry  but also its distinctive features that speak about you. Whether it's a clutch bag, sling bag, or a large bag, or you are at work, red carpet, party or at the children's play ground. The bag you carry about speaks volume of who you are and reflects your personality.

Your handbags are part of your message to the world. How you hold and portray your handbag will provide a little bit of insight into our personality. Whether you are trendy, busy, a mom or just a proud woman,  don't see a handbag as EFFORT, but rather as an expression of who you are. Make sure you carry a handbag speaks well of you.

Your Style: The Importance Of Smelling Good.

Your scent is an important factor in completing your overall style. Smelling nice is part and parcel of being sophisticated. It distinguishes character and expresses personality. Sense of smell is just about the strongest sense human beings have and your scent is one of the most powerful tool for your recognition. If you want to leave a permanent impression in your environment, you should not only look good, but also smell good. Think of that person who smells so bad, it's disgusting right? Now think of that guy/girl who always walks past you with that unique scent and smelling like heaven itself. You can't get enough of them, right? That's one importance of smelling nice.

It's not just enough to look like David Beckham, Pharell williams, Justin Timberlake or Beyonce. Imagine one of these above mentioned style icons looking so good stepping out and not smelling so good. It is a known fact that you actually gain more respect and look better to people (Especially the opposite sex) when you smell great. Your Scent plays a major role in the biology of sexual attraction.

Fragrances can smell differently on different people. Just because someone smells good in a scent does not mean that this certain fragrance is also right for you, it really depends on your skin chemistry. For some, certain scents don't blend with their skin type and for others any scents blend in. First figure out what colognes works for your body then go with it. Form me, am quite lucky with my skin and most colognes works for me. My preference being Gucci guilty, Tom Ford (black orchid) and Armani code.

Choosing the scent that suits you is not an easy task. Let the scent set into your skin before smelling it, that way the fragrance sinks in and then you know which smells better with your skin. You cannot just smell from the scent strips put  out in magazines or fragrance testers offered at the perfume shops because it really depends on your skin chemistry. You don’t just go for whatever takes your fancy. For some, It takes a while to know what type of fragrance is right for you.

Several methods of applying fragrance is to squirt or spray all of your pulse points, over your heart, behind you ears, on your neck, inside both wrists, inside both elbows, lower abdomen, and behind your knees. It will last you all day depending on the type of fragrance.. An added extra is to spray the back of your neck and your hair(ladies) if you know you're going to be getting a hug, or up close and personal with someone. It's also nice to carry around the mini bottles with you if possible for a bit of refreshers during the day.

The way you carry yourself and dress matters a lot to your personal style, add your fragrance to that and you will leave people drooling after you. It's always good to leave a good impression and even better if you leave your sweet scent for people to crave after.

Your Belt Really Matters!

Belts, are one of the most important and necessary accessories in a man's outfits. The belts signify a huge fashion and style statement, it goes a long way in telling so much about a man's taste and sense of style, it's not just used to hold up the pants.

The first thing to look out for when picking a belt is the leather before choosing buckles and length. Little errors like wearing an oversize belt shows you need to learn more about dressing well and the simple task of wearing it right shows that you are a man that know his clothes. Your belt should have a few inches of leather to the left of the buckle once it’s fastened, just enough to tuck under your first belt loop if it has. Rather than wrapping a long strap of leather around your waist a second time which will give you a funny look.

There are different types of belts, Formal(dress belts) and Casual belts. The formal belts are usually plain and small and come with smaller buckles while most casual belts come with bigger and almost any kind of buckles which are more suitable for jeans and the casual look. It's also important not to mix belts with your outfit. If you stepping out with a formal outfit, use a formal belt.

One simple rule of belts is 'Leather should always match Leather'. It's a rule that should be used when you stepping out in casual or formal gear so brown leather with brown leather and black leather with black leather. If you’re wearing shoes that aren’t made of leather or sneakers, then you have more freedom to mix.

Unless you are wearing a suspenders, not wearing a belt gives you a weird look and brings you across like a 'careless' person, so always make sure you 'Put a belt on it'.

How To Look And What To Wear On A First Date..

They say first impression lasts the longest and this is very true. Most Ladies are always caught at a cross road on what to wear on their  first date meeting a hot guy.

On the first date it is always a sensible idea to play safe until you know each other better, and if things go well on this date then there will be lots of other chances to pull out all the fashion tricks that you have. You don't want to look like you are trying too hard on that first date. It also Obviously depends on where you are going on the date.

Here are a few tips to consider while dressing for a first date:

1. Dress for comfort: Wear something you feel comfortable in, don’t wear those too tight jeans that leave you gasping for air, and if you’re not a heels kind of girl, no sky high heels, unless you’re a pro at walking in them and know they aren't going to kill you or have you somersaulting down the stairs.

Avoid outfits that you can't sit comfortably in or outfits that haven’t been really tested, am sure you don’t want to find out half way through your date that your skin tight skirt has an unfortunate way of riding up your bottom when you make some little movements, it's really embarrassing. You won't give a good impression if keep shifting, moving and wincing uncomfortably all night.

2 Dress for the venue: It's very important that your chosen outfit is ok for the place that you will be meeting up. You are obviously not going to dress the same way if you are meeting up at a night club and having a walk in the park. You don't want to step out looking out of place.

3.Dress to keep him imagining: The number one aim of first a date is to present an image  of who you are as a  beautiful, fun, sophisticated, intelligent and witty catch, so it's important you dress likewise. Showing off a bit of flesh is very advisable but do that with uttermost sophistication. So wear nothing that is too tight, too short, or shows too much thighs or cleavage! Showing off a bit too much too early can unfortunately shatter this image. The basic rule should be that on this occasion reveal just enough to get him interested and leave him wanting more! More importantly both of you won’t be distracted by wardrobe malfunctions.

4. Dress for yourself and be confident: Wear something that makes you feel great within. Confidence comes from within, so if you feel great, your date will definitely notice. If you’re a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl then don’t go and force yourself into something you are not on your first date. It's easier to even plan the venue of your first date on your kind of person and style than to be uncomfortable with who you are not. It's important for your date to know who you are from the start. So if you are a tattoo or piercing styled person, try as much as possible not to cover them up fully. If they don't fancy your style then it's an easy one, they are not the one for you!

For the men, It's not much of a problem like the ladies but depending on the occasion and venue, you can’t go wrong with good quality jeans or well fitting trousers, (please make sure that the trousers are not too tight and your crotch dangling out, its off putting to some ladies), a shirt, maybe a tie if the occasion or venue calls for it or T shirt and a jacket. It's important to look clean, smell nice and give the impression you can take care of your self. You are not on a date searching for a mother.

So, you both have made an effort, you both look great but the most important thing is to feel amazing in whatever you wear and when you feel amazing, your date takes note and it feels easier to relate with each other that way.

Style Is Ageless: Tips To Looking Stylish For Older Ladies.

These days fashion and style is aimed and marketed at the younger generations, slowly neglecting that the older people still have to look good. I would not entirely blame the fashion world for this because as a lot of women age, they tend to slow down on their fashion and sense of style. They feel they have lost that sexy vibe and energy the younger ladies carry. This should not be so as women should always be beautiful and attractive to look upon. Being stylish is not a thing of youth only. You can be stylish and attractive regardless of your age, so matured women should look attractive, interesting and stylish without seeming tacky and unaware of themselves.

Learn what suits your body shape and skin.  The first thing to consider when trying to look stylish at an older age is your body shape. When you start getting older, your body shape begins to change and so does your skin tone, so what used to look great and sexy on you suddenly starts to look stupid on you. It's important you pick outfits that goes well with your body shape.

Keep your style but forget about Fashion trends. Trying to keep up with fashion trends at an older age is a bit of a hassle because fashion keeps changing every season but your style remains unique to you. Your aim should be comfort and elegance in your outfits.

Accessories are very important. I have seen a lot of older ladies wear too much accessories. i don't understand why they get this wrong. Don’t wear your entire jewelry box, focus on one or two wearing one standout piece at a time. Keep it simple glamour.

A dress will always look great on you and will flatter you. Wrap dresses are great styles. Sleeveless dresses plus good accessories looks lovely too. I keep reading that women of a certain age don’t like their arms out. If you really don’t like your upper arms out, a light jacket will work for your outfit quite well.

High Heels are always important in  every ladies wardrobe age regardless, so if you emptied out your heels from your wardrobe, I'd say get them back! You don't need something too high but you should always have them in your wardrobe.

Get some Blazer jackets/suits. They are a great stylish look for ladies of all ages.

If you are the office or professional type, trousers and not panty house is what you need now. The days of panty hose to the office are behind you. Get a fitting pair of lady trousers matched with a good pair of high heels and a nice fitting for suits that have a softness to them

Jeans on a lady always looks good and contrary to what some section of people think, jeans on older ladies are good for a casual look. Just avoid the low waist ones. Take the time and try on a variety of sizes and styles to find the most flattering, age appropriate fit.

For our ladies across the continent (Africa) small prints gowns or traditional/ native outfits are important in your style as well. Make sure the attire is well fitted to your body type.

Thanks for stopping by and If you are helped by what you read in this post then please feel free to comment and share with your friends or email me for more advice, question or tips if you need any.
